Something old, something new.

Out here in the Goodland, we have been busy busy people. American Advertising Federation (AAF) at UCSB just recently changed its name and image to reflect a newer, better and stronger organization. Much like the university itself has been given a massive facelift in the past year or two, the student based advertising agency has also decided to shed its old skin. SB Media Group is now the University of California Santa Barbara's Advertising Agency, catering to local and university departments and businesses.

Being the webmaster, I am by no means an authority in what the organization is currently doing but I did attend a meeting last week at UCSB and was thoroughly impressed and humbled by how far ahead of the curve these young adults really are. Although the organization remains essentially the same as before the indentity morph, we have banded a new generation of young minds. Being a alightly older guy myself, it never ceases to amaze me how the next generation always seems to be one step ahead. This brilliant collection of tight, fresh minds are still students for crying out loud, and already gaining agency experience and working directly with clients. When I was in their position I was a failing Bus-Econ major, thinking maybe college wasn't for me. Of course I was wrong, but my point is that they are already so far ahead of the game. I would bet that the next generation will be in high school when they start getting internships! I suppose it keeps me on my toes.

After several iterations, the organization decided on a final brand that will stick to minds and soon be known and respect around campus and the Santa Barbara, Isla Vista and Goleta areas. SB Media Group provides creative and forward-thinking services to a long list of clients in the area, the list can be seen on the legacy site at aafucsb.info. The last generation website (located at aafucsb.com) will soon be forwarded to the new website at sbmediagroup.org. Please click on this link to help them get rolling in the search engines.
